Thanks for the info re left C# & 3rd octave, really helpful, and opinions ditto ... two more features to cross off my list in the process of deciding what oboe features I want or don't need to get ... versatility in fingering options desirable, but not at any specialized price ... or heavier oboe to hold ... have tried out a full auto octave system (originally on my wish-list) oboe was far too top-heavy even with thicker wood and metal-lined joints lower down ... so can appreciate lighter semi-auto much more now ... getting older shapes one's choices differently!
