Well, I thinned the edges and corners a tiny bit, steepened the blend at the sides (I left the middle well alone - the spine essential) and things improved enough that I felt comfortable playing on it last night at rehearsal. And I got a couple of smiles from the conductor so it may be good enough, after all.
Playing Mahler is a privilege - I'm in awe. The music is glorious though I find the Ruckert texts a little shallow, unworthy of Mahler's majestic music. Perhaps a lot is lost in translation.
I need more hours in the day for my reedmaking. Holding down my day-job always takes priority (except, of course for the occasional post to a bulletin board).
