Author: Chris J  Date:   2009-10-29 04:46 An update: but first another photo - giving the instrument a clean I spotted the number "4" under 3 long levers. Maybe that helps in the positive ID, maybe not. Now the update. I have had information via private email that keeps Moennig in the frame as the maker of this oboe. Moennig have made oboes in the past that did not bear their makers logo. These were exported to USA. It may have been that they had Moennig - Artist stamped on them when in USA (if I read the email correctly - English is not his first language), but others may not have been stamped at all. The person I have been in contact with does think that my instrument looks very similar to an old Moennig model. If it were, the serial number would date it to the early 1940s. He will be showing the photos to a colleague of his who may have even more information and I hope to hear again from them soon. The person who has so very kindly given me the information so far is Mr Veit Schindler, Managing Director of Gebrüder Mönnig - Oscar Adler & Co. The person who he will show the photos to is a gentleman called Mr. Klaus Moennig.... If I hear more, I will update again Chris
