Thanks for the input. I just did a search - I didn't realize the topic was so thoroughly discussed!
I did get one important piece of information though - I believe my reed construction is more similar to the long thin heart with smaller back windows and a blended tip; rather the a thicker heart with a more defined tip and longer windows.
Although, I realize that the latter gives more flexibility - on my oboe I strive for stability in the upper register. Maybe when I buy a new instrument - I can experiment with a different scrape.
