Re: moving from thumbplate to conservatoire

Yes, I've changed from thumb-plate to conservatory, with 30 plus years in between, reprogamming young memories with older brain took me some time, even now, in a fast passage i want that open t-plate and lift my thumb off ...

also changed from ring-key to plateau (caps) on all keys, love the convenience

find the little lips under the B and F# key very handy for retraining the brain in slow mo for C, Bb, the pressure of the lip edges helped to reinforce concentration for silent finger practice, but of course during actual playing
i'm pressing the caps

i found touching the back of top joint lightly with thumb during Bb and C was the hardest thing at first, so i used some black hockey tape, rolled over on itself sticky side up, to make sure i stuck, just the first week or so to get used to the idea

the other hard thing i found was lifting F# (1st index) for A down from Bb -- just isn't logical to lift a lower finger for a lower note -- got my index fingers crossed for a while, so strongly recommend twice daily silent finger reps in slow mo, saying each note to yourself, then silent read & finger tech exercises or melodies from written music right after, get hand brain eye co-ordinated all at once
