Amy,

It should be a relatively easy fix. You can do it yourself. There is a spatula spring attached to the underside of the F res key (F breather key; never heard it called that) which if "strengthened" could well solve the problem. Just take your screwdriver & remove the rod which anchors this key. Then lift out the key & gently raise the spring a few times. Wipe off the rod & put a drop of oil on it. Take a pipe cleaner & ream out the rod casing & replace the key & rod. I doubt that it's the posts (pillars). I could be wrong, however. If what I've suggested fixes the problem, then you've saved the expense of going back to the repair shop. The lows will come out much better, assuming of course that your reeds are fine. I should mention that Mark Chudnow at the Martin Schuring master class in Fresno last year showed me how to do this. I did it while sitting at the class & everything was much improved after that.
