Author: Dutchy  Date:   2008-07-03 13:56 As you can see, the key is close enough to the barrel that a dime will barely fit in between (I actually tried a quarter first, but it was too thick). Probably a more experienced player who didn't need to have a death grip on the oboe at all times would be able to do the thumb-rolling thing.
