Thanks for the tips guys. With the cigarrette paper, when I say that I blow in there for an hour I mean with cigarrette paper and I swab. The new swab idea is interesting because for a time i used a cloth swab that I thnk may have been too big for the upper joint. was very tight in the bore, frayed and basically a piece of junk. but I switched to a silk one after a few months. The silk one is very old though so I think my first course of action will be buying a new swab.
I will say however, just purusing new oboes makes me want to convince myself that the problem is unfixable...lol.
