I find Thomas Stacy's tone so dark in this performance that it is utterly disturbing...it's obvious why it's so dark. Just look at how his body actually shakes to create the warm vibrato because the reed is so resistant. Beautiful legato, but a bit too straight forward musically because his reed simply didn't allow flexibility? Just my personal opinion, because i think this obsession with a dark sound is simply not right.

He wasn't even in tune with the strings in certain sections. But i won't go on, because i am not qualified to, and certainly i am not able to play half as well! =D The NYPO going to North Korea to me was a mistake from the begining, when people were actually starving to death on the streets, they were having a banquet and fake political resolutions were made. Nothing was achieved in the trip other than obscenity. Thomas Stacy was probably unhappy with the trip anyways, i hope yes/not? =/

Howard

p.s. Liang Wang's blip was understandable, almost everyone blips there! Beautiful sound and very expressive playing though! =D
