Hi all, maybe some tiny clarifications from Sound Alchemy:

For Ehafb: Well, Mary James IS still playing the Enigma, no? I write some years after your original post....but she seems very happy and still very much with the "Enigma".

Hi Stevensfo, What you are referring to was about a joint effort attempt between Bulgheroni and Sound Alchemy back in 2000. No more than 10 oboes were ever produced, but the No1 prototype was bought by one John Anderson.
Quite different design and acoustics are now produced by the two companies. The "cloning" was a myth propagated aggressively by a rather uncomfortably feeling major British oboe makers because of the supposed "threat" to them by the modest success of my instruments.

For Chris P: Sound Alchemy instruments are not "sold in the UK through Crowthers" but rather I have allowed Crowthers to sell my instruments. I am the chief supplier of my oboes and have always been, forgive me for correcting you. Crowthers, who are the only shop I do business with because of the integrity and charm of a wonderful gentleman named Ian Crowther, are also supplying some of my accessories.

For HautboisJJ: Please see Stevensfo info Howard, but as you know I have explained to you in much more recent times about the mechanics of my business. I am correcting these myths now as they have been hanging around for ages. Greetings to steamy Malaysia!
