I know you suppose to take it to a shop like carlos oboes or something, but I am sure that it is not difficult to fix on your own. What Fills a crack!? What is used to pin it? Do you really need a pro to do it? Most oboist can not fix a crack, you would think that something like that would be thought.
A couple of days ago, my oboe cracked before a youth concert, I really was in a heep, i called Carlos and he told me that it would take about a week to fix because he had so many oboes he had to fix, so he told me to get very strong super glue, and put it on a small pin, and rub it through the crack, and add layers, doing this multiply times (about 3 times) Filled the crack, and now it plays fine. It has been playing fine for about a week, even though it is repaired i know it is only a short temp. What do people think about this. It seems that SUPER GLUE really works. But what is suppose to really go into a crack? Is that a secret of the trade? or just something that most oboist should not know so the mechanics can make a couple of bucks? Thank you
