What you may be missing are the written second parts that are found only in the Bb edition, I'm told, neither in the C nor the Eb edition. I've only been told this; I haven't actually checked for myself (I own only the Bb edition). If there are second parts in the C book, they may not be as "interesting" as those in the Bb. But this presumes you intend to use the book as if it were classical music. The second parts were just somebody's idea of what might sound good. If the C book has chord symbols, they're also just somebody's idea...not set in stone. This is folk music. In fact, even the melodic transcriptions are variable.
Nevertheless, you could always spring for a Bb book to have, besides.
What kind of C clarinet do you have? Did you just get it, to facilitate playing in folk music groups? May I ask what else you play on it or intend to play on it? I have a Patricola CL 7 c-clarinet.
