Hi!
Good luck on the d'amore. I own a very fine Bulgheroni instrument that is as good as one could expect. The following are my comments:
1. Try to make reeds work without a wire if you can. If you really need a wire, keep it fairly close to the thread(3 or 4mm?) or the low notes will be too flat. Use a fairly narrow shape if you can, as wide shapes may not be high enough in crow or in general pitch.
2. As with cor anglais, the G2 and Ab2, may be unstable in pitch, tending to go sharp. They can be stablized by use of alternate fingerings. Also like the cor anglais, the E2 may be too strong which can be helped by being careful. Bocals don't help these situations, in my humble opinion.
