I think it might be better to save the hypnotherapy for a deeper problem. In fact, sometimes more "real-life" problems manifest themselves when it's performance time. Childhood fears (being judged by peers, being teased by the older kids on the playground) can be the cause of some devastating nervousness.
One can't circumvent fear-inducing situations. One must face them. That is the only way to overcome nervousness of performing. If you're the type who gets nervous to the point that it is debilitating, one performance a year playing solos in concert band isn't going to cut it. Play anything, everything for your family, friends, even coworkers. Plan your own mock recital in someone's living room. Play solos in front of people. Play solos in the park! (maybe not anymore because it's getting too cold...;)
Be creative. Busk (for free, or for pay!) in the subway, if your city permits it!
