To pick up this thread from a different angle, if I may... Has anyone tried hypnotherapy? I too can have panic attacks when playing; not normally in regular concerts with only 'small' solos, but when I have to do something quite big (two concerts of Bach cantatas with hard obbligatos spring to mind). I know all the zen-theory, I know the music back to front, the only thing I haven't tried from the suggestions above is the bananas... but it still happens, even when I'm not expecting it to. The last Bach cantata was a couple of weeks ago, and I have been contemplating getting hypnotherapy since then. I want to enjoy the music, not be reduced to a quivering wreck! I'd be interested to hear anyone's opinion on this.
