If you really want to play the oboe, go for it! I played the tuba and oboe in college with no real problems because the embouchure was so loose, but I would guess you will need to choose between oboe and trumpet if you get serious -- but sounds like you are motivated to learn the oboe quickly!

If you can find a teacher, even if you can only have one or two lessons that would be great; they can help you find an instrument and get a few reeds going. Check with the school district about instruments, they may have one you can use. Usually band directors are thrilled to have an oboist in their program.
