I currently own the RDG -1n, the RDG 2, and a Weber 1-B and Weber 1-C, which are similar in dimensions to a Gilbert -1 and 1.
The only tip I don't really use is the -1N because it takes too much work. The Weber 1-B I get great results from as do I get with the Weber 1-C with a thicker gouge on the sides. I can also make fantastic reeds on the RDG 2, if I get my gouge just right, which is thicker on the sides.
I honestly believe you can make just about any shape work, if you have the correct gouge.
You can see some of my reeds on the two weber tips and RDG 2 here.
