I've been wondering...have there been advancements in English Horn manufacturing in the past 20 years or so similar to the oboe which have resulted in improved instruments with better scales, etc? How useful is the third octave key and low B resonance, given that the older horns don't seem to have them? How much English Horn literature requires one to get up there above high D? Getting into the scale question, if there have been improvements, which notes have seen the most improvement? Finally, is high Bb a particularly troublesome note?
