I agree, the putdown remarks are gratuitously stupid. And I too had a LOT of trouble figuring out what you're supposed to do in the first place, and I still can't get any of them right. I can play the notes just fine; what I can't do is visualize which fingers are playing which notes, from the perspective of "oboe front", and fill in the blanks.
