Ah, Judy! I have learned what I have learned either by rank stupidity or heart-pounding necessity.
I imagine that is the way it goes, if you are not in a university program.
I think the most inspirational advice about this, attributed to the late John Mack's father, is to not take "no" for an answer from inanimate objects.

P.S. And buy the book by Carl Sawicki ,"The Oboe Revealed." Last I knew, Gary Van Cott (Van Cott Information Services), a sponsor of this board, had some copies of it. Or ask Dutchy where she got hers.
