Craig, I was able to borrow a copy of Ledet's book via the local library. It's fascinating!

Looking at the plates of all of those different reeds is eye-opening. What an extraordinary variety of styles. Coming from the US, I've always learned the "American Scrape." It is amazing how few of the well-respected oboists mentioned in his book use that style of reed. It's even more amazing to see how rough some of the reeds look in the plates.

Very interesting.
