The IDRS has a lot of great archieve information on many topics.
If you are not yet a member, consider becoming one and gain access to member's only publications, etc.
And I agree with ohsusan, try to get the Ledet book. It covers many countries and many styles, but predominately covers American players of the previous couple generations ( some still playing in top form).
Honestly, I have poured over it for years and still seem to learn something each additional pass.
