Okay, so, now...stick the reed in the oboe and play the oboe, dude, not the reed. Nobody learns to play an oboe by merely sitting there and crowing the reed. It's like sitting there with a violin bow in your hand and making bowing motions in the air--you're not learning to play the violin, you're just learning to make bowing motions.
So you're getting real good at getting a D5 out of the reed--but nobody CARES about how good you are at getting a D5 out of the reed, see.

And I have to say that IMO you're internalizing this too much. :D Just get out your Oboe Book 1 and start feeling out some tunes, "Mary Had A Little Lamb", , etc, (what method book are you using, BTW?) You gotta get the physical part of playing into your fingers, othewise you're just doing the Harold Hill "Think the Minuet!" thing, which isn't gonna take you very far.
