I purchased a Reeds N' Stuff shaping machine a few years ago with 3 shaper forms (Gilbert oboe #1, and #2-, and English horn Gilbert #1) for about $1000.
About the same price as a deluxe shaper handle and perhaps 4 shaper tips.
For me, this shaping machine makes life so much easier than fussing with shaper handles and shaper tips. And the process of shaping a piece of cane on the shaping machine is very fast.
Reeds N' Stuff has a list of about 55 oboe shape forms, about 4 oboe d'amore shape forms, and about 20 shape forms for English horn. Because the cane is held fixed and flat, and the replaceable carbide blades run along a fixed guide, the result is extremely consistent on piece to the next. I never worry about a reed not sealing.
And the machine scores the cane across the center so you know exactly where to place the knife to notch for the fold.
