Mr. Hubbard is sure a better "first reader" than I am, as only now, do I understand what or how it is, that you're trying to do. My feeling is that the tolerances in "Modern" instrument, oboe reeds is so tight, that it would be next to impossible to obtain consistency in width, by using "hand shaping". Is there a reason you don't want to use a shaper tip? Regards.
