I compared the Fox 330 with the Yamaha 441 at the Midwest Clinic last Dec. The Fox outshone the Yamaha, in my opinion. It just felt more...oboe-y. The Fox feels in the hands and with the airstream as through it was designed by a company that deals primarily with oboes (and bassoons of course!) The Yamaha felt like it was constructed by a company that constructs lots of things. Strange, that!
Don't get me wrong, the Yamaha is a good instrument! For sure you need to compare them yourself side by side. But for me, there was a stark contrast between the two.
And well done for getting back into the oboe!
