I only mentioned it was dual as one suggested fingering I found for conservatoire was pretty hopeless on dual- just trill the LH1 (the top front hole) with nothing else held down, which obviously doesnt work on dual system, as it produces a C to flat C# trill.

I'm not sure if anything is wrong with the trill holes, as the C# and D produced using them are actually, and surprisingly, in tune, even if the tone quality is lacking, even when used in the upper octave with the 2nd octave key. I may have the whole oboe cleaned out soon though, as I know from playing clarinet that my saliva is particularly acidic and sticks to the inside of the instrument, and a pull-through may not have cleared it from the tone holes...
