Paker,
my current student took piano lessons an entire generation ago as a girl, but always wanted to play the oboe. Not having ANY woodwind experience, I was a little concerned. But she has proved to be a WONDERFUL student and ENJOYS the oboe, making GREAT progress etc etc.

If you want to play the oboe, do it. I shall never be a virtuoso myself, but no other instrument would satisfy me as much.
