Ah, I think that would be it. In the past I was usually overestimating the 73 mm, so probably a bit longer than that. I have been trying to be as consistent as possible with the 73 now. Due to a stupidly dumb thing which I did which borked most of my reeds up until a month or two ago, most of my past reedmaking can be ignored, and I will try a few more times on the Chiarugi, and experimenting with a shorter tie-on. I have used the Pfeiffer-Mack shape a lot, so hopefully I can get them to at least seal.
Unfortunately, given my novice skills at reedmaking, I can hardly tell which staples are good or not or if it's just the luck of the draw that I tie/scrape a good batch on a single type of staple. The only thing I've noticed is that I seem to be doing slightly better on Glotin** staples, so have been trying to to use those as a majority (yes, I know I should just stick to one and only one, as my teacher has told me multiple times...ha).
