Hi Tanner,
I think about 100 names exist on Tom's wait list at the moment.
If Tom makes 10 oboes a year, that would indicate a wait of about ten years.
However, due to the "iffy" economy, some of Tom's clients have been
putting their orders "on hold," hoping to confirm the order at a later date.
This phenomenon has in fact helped move the list along.
I do not think Tom will ever make a piccolo oboe. I did a search for pieces written requiring piccolo oboe instrumentation. I found 20 pieces in total.
I tried a Loree piccolo oboe (in F) a few years ago. It almost seemed like three completely different instruments in one- the voice (timbre) seems to change radically from one register to the next. I have not yet played a Marigaux in Eb
so far...
