I'm currently using a FHRED, although I'm still working on not doing right-arm contorsions each time I play a C#. But I've just picked up a horn a short while ago so I'm still used to getting playing this type of instrument in general. At this time I don't want to be paying for keywork upgrades. One day, when I get a top-of-the line EH then I'll consider that. I'm a grown woman, but have tiny girl hands, with outrageously short pinkies. Unfortunately, I have similar problems on the piano. I've gotten a very wide stretch through exercise, but my inability to do comfortably octaves and up is actually a reason I definitely did not consider becoming a professional pianist, which I think I could've. <sigh>
How is the Howarth S40 compared to the XL in terms of sound? That one is definitely in my price range. I'm also on the prowl for used Fossati Solistes (is that the one for women's hands?).
Even though I would love to, exotic woods isn't an option for my climate.
