Hi Susan et al.,
In a recent telephone conversation, R. Dupin stated to me that he had worked in several Paris ateliers, including Rigoutat, Loree, Marigaux (?), and Jarde'.
I assume that R. D. must have been in his 20s back in the 1950s,
so I surmise that Jarde' was operating at least into the 1950s and likely later.
R. Dupin expressed the greatest respect for Jarde's oboe making acumen.
It also occurs to me that at least into the 1970s there was marketing company in the London environs that was an agent for Jarde' instruments. I believe the company was called "J. Howarth," though, as far as I know, "J. Howarth" had no relation to "T.W. Howarth."
Sometime in the early 1970s I received a glossy promotional flyer from J. Howarth describing all of the various Jarde' instruments.
