Andrew, would the Evelyn Rothwell book be The Oboist's Companion Vol 3? There is a copy on US Amazon for $165 (?!?) but there is also one in the UK for about $30. I will keep my eyes open!

Long term, I would just like to not spend so much money on reeds! As well as having the flexibility of tailoring my reeds to me. I know that willl take some time, but after only about 6 weeks of being in the US, I impressed my teacher with two reeds that actually play having never made reeds before, and having never even seen a long scrape reed in the flesh before I got here, so here's hoping I can do it!
