Hi Rachel,
My knee-jerk reaction is to lean toward Illinois. Proximity to Chicago is a major factor. And I personally might be more comfortable with the cultural traditions of the Midwest, rather than the South. But that is a matter of perspective, I am sure.
I hear that there is an amazing amount of music going on in Florida these days. And the weather in Florida is, as you say, easier to take.
Boy, tough call! Any feelings about the faculty or potential colleagues in either place? WHO you would be working with might matter even more than WHERE you are working.
