A 3rd party is a great idea.
And if possible try to record yourself on both instruments from up close and out to 15 - 20 feet away.
It'll help you understand how each instrument's tone develops at a distance.
Some tones get brighter with distance, some warmer. And you will want to play all over the range. Things being fairly close, I personally would look for overall consistency, no sour notes, no suddenly thin or very bright tones sticking out of character with the neighboring tones.
