Thanks Cooper, this is really good info. I don't know any baroque instrument players, so I have no way of finding this stuff out, so I appreciate the info.
I'll still play with reeds to try to get what I consider a better sound. But I suppose the width and shape of the reed and the characteristics of the bore are what give the baroque instrument that hollow "goosey" quality.
I wish we could get a keyed baroque oboe!
