The Dring trio IS beautiful! And not extremely taxing, unlike many other pieces for the oboe. The Britten quartet is to die for but is extremely difficult, as so is the Mozart. So not so popular, but pieces of extremely high quality and worth listening if not playing in my opinion are Soderlundh's Concertino, Qigang Chen's Extase, and Moscheles's Concertante for flute and oboe. Look out for recordings of the above, they are really good music just for listening!
Some other nice pieces to play are Szesler's arrangement of 3 folk songs of Bartok which Bart Schneemann recorded with Cembalon, as well as Britten's Temporal Variations, which is extremely exciting to play as well as listen. (in my opinion a completely under rated work compared to the metamorphoses, but you really need a good pianist for it!) The Loeffler rhapsodies are also super pieces of music. So much out there, that although they are not by the so called A-rate composers, disprove the notion that we oboists have not enough good music to play!
