You'll find the tenon corks will compress and the joints will become loose if left assembled on the stand for long periods, and any water that collects in the sockets will remain there for longer which can cause tenon corks to break off as the water can get under them. Dust and fibres will also collect on the springs and mechanism, and the keywork will tarnish faster if the instrument is left out.

So I wouldn't advise doing this at all, and after playing, dry the joints and sockets and put them back in their case as that's the safest place for them when they're not being played.
