Hello Board,
I was wondering about player's different reed making experiences with a reed with a short tip vs, a long tip. Now, I realize - it more complicated because the size of the tip requires other adjustments in the reed.
I pose this question because - it seems I tend to make more reeds with shorter than longer tips. My teacher's reeds for example all have an ample tip.
I find the reeds with shorter tip also have narrower openings - and a thinner heart which I prefer to play on.
The reeds are more flexible and vibrant. People like the quality of the sound.
All comments appreciated and welcome.
Does this also fall under the heading - a covered sound vs. a flexible sound?
