You're probably trying to use your fingertip, and not the level pad of the pinkie (from the middle joint). If that doesn't work, you might chalk it up to the ergonomics of your particular oboe.

How important is Blaine Edlefsen's advice to you? Do what's most comfortable, and keep your fingers LIGHT.
