Dear James
Your again dead wright to place everything in context, for most Dutch players Jaap Stotijn was a alltime Hero whom`s playing was for me more a circus act.
His son Haakon was a totally different cup of tea in one word:integrety.
The same is for my oboe rollmodel Werner Herbers, just listen to old recordings of the KCO with Bernard Haitink like The tombeau de Couperin,Sheherazade with Kyrill Kondrashin and many others.
The recordings of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, like The Krommer partita`s are realy amazing pieces of Werner`s skil and he is still going strong after his retirement.
At this moment I really adore the playing of Albrecht Mayer in for example the Telemann recordings he made with the Berlin barok soloists.
For me this is really a very moving way of oboe playing.
Greetings Mark
