The great thing about all the fantastic oboe makers now out there is that it forces everyone to raise their game, which I believe Loree has done as well...I tried a Howarth XL and a Patricola, but couldn't in my brief time alotted get my hands on a Rigoutat or Fossatti (or Marigaux etc.)...they're fine, and I could get used to them, but there's no perfect instrument out there, that's one thing I'm convinced of, and my hands feel at home with the Loree layout...however, over the years, now that I'm properly set up, I'll make every effort to play other instruments and build up my points of reference.
