Hey Howard and Woody,
You guys have been wonderful in your help. As my little "experiment" showed me that my tongue is indeed touching the reed yet VERY lightly. According to Robert Sprenkle in his book, "The Art of Oboe Playing", I like how he addresses the issue of articulation. He indicates that you do not touch the tip at all....you touch the the lower blade near the tip. And ofcourse twisting the reed and slightly moving the instrument in the same direction to ease the ability to strike the lower left corner of the reed.
I feel as though I am articulationg correctly and your feedback has been invaluable.
Cheers,
Gary
