My future oboe professor just taught me this but I'm not a master yet. She told me that to end a note you bring your corners in and kind of close around the redd(but not squeezing or biting) kind of as if you were to do a cut off while direting a band. To practice, do long tones, crecendoing and than tapering off. I'm not sure this makes any sense but If I learn more I'll let you know.

The idea behind the lip 'squeeze' method is this....when the air stops it will certainly slow down before technically stopping, which if no adjustment is made to the embouchure, flattens the pitch of the end of the note. So a gentle ' squeeze', will clean the ending of the note. I think there was misunderstanding from my post, i forgot to mention that OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO STOP THE AIR! (i did say stop blowing though....)
