No, fully conservatoire mechanism. The Viennese have hardly any mechanism for trills or quick passage between low Eb, C# and C, B, Bb, just to mention a few. These are creature comforts I don't want to give up, although they claim the instrument is as easy as the French, once you learn the fingerings.
This one has rings, but they normally come closed plateau. This one stops at low B natural, but most go down to Bb. It's the same thing Christoph Hartman plays.
The big deal is the bore: closer to classical, which is what the Viennese oboes do.
I do wish there were a reseller in Canada or U.S. from whom I could get one on trial. I don't know about U.S., but Europeans have stopped sending to Canada on trial because of our difficul custom tax system.
