Although I'm more of an oboe doubler than a full-fledged oboe player, I've had enough lessons and spent enough time practicing both oboe and English horn to come to think that oboe is more challenging than English horn.
Sure, they both have their own issues to deal with, but I feel overall that the oboe is less forgiving and gives you more things to think about than EH.
Agree? Disagree?
I also feel that the more oboe you play, the better prepared you are to play EH, and that the converse would not be true--if you played more EH, it would not mean you'd be prepared to play oboe. Agree? Disagree?
