On leblanc's and buffet's, the altissimo register is flat. A mouthpiece with a smaller chamber will help this - yeah, but who makes them? Play any instrument with a tuner and your own mouthpiece before buying. Don't know if Patricola has improved on this but I would like to know. There are modifications to bring intonation in line but they only get you part way. E-mail me at kb8zoy@compuserve.com for more comments.
Kurt Bjorling of Brave Old World said I should get the Naftule Brandwein CD, pick any three tunes and memorize them, ornamentation and all. Said that if this wasn't Great Fun, to put my horn on the shelf. I followed this advice and it was a Gas.
