Hello all --
This may be a dumb question, but I've been wondering whether it matters which side of the reed you put toward you when assembling the oboe. (No, I don't mean which END of the reed -- -- THAT I have figured out.)
I've tried blowing with one side and then the other toward me with some of my reeds, and sometimes I think I can hear or feel a difference, but sometimes not. I also find that I seem to insert certain reeds the same way all the time, without being conscious that I am doing it (guided by some little variation in the way it looks, probably). Or maybe it's just because I lay them in the case in a certain way, and they come out that same way again.
Anyway, I've never heard or read anything about this issue (or is it a non-issue?), and thought I'd ask.
Susan
