I've always been a tinkerer - if it's got screws I'll take it to bits! Hi-fi systems, electronic games, toasters, kettles, radios, car interiors, watches clocks, wind-up grammophones ... basically anything that can come apart is just too tempting for me not to take it apart!
And it evolved from there - taking up bassoon when I was 11 was again a temptation with all the screws and moving parts. Then I ditched bassoon for sax and one day I took it to bits. Then adding clarinet, oboe and flute - and taking them to bits and finally I stsrted working as a repairer when I was 14 in my local music shop, and developed my skills and was offered the job in Howarths as a finisher back in 1998. Still with them and I'm now 34 and still enjoy what I do, and the satisfaction that players are benefitting from my work.
Keep the passion alive and you'll never tire from what you do.
