Depending on the intersection of the spiral's curve and some part of the reed, a portion of the numerical sequence may find a fit... its a data modeling problem of sorts... fitting the data to the formula (something we did in my statistical business intelligence work... gotta love the phDs... they taught me a lot.)

Consider the curvature of the spiral overlaying the shape of just the top of the heart... and how some assymetrical proportions in the heart itself might affect the reed.

I am actually very serious... not kidding for a change... some slight assymetrical shaping of the 'half moon' on some cane does some very desirable things to the sound, response, etc. Offset tips, staggered window placement, slipped blades, one tip slightly thicker than the other... also can be effective devices for fine tuning a reed.
